That Ghibli Feeling

I dunno why but I woke up with a Ghibli feeling this morning. Maybe it's time to watch a movie or two?

Having said that, my fave all time Ghibli has to be Porco Rosso. It's the blend of era, art and way people are indifferent to a talking pig. Plus it has the most hillarious band of pirates that have ever walked a 2D cell.

For people missing the collection you can find a decent orientation here. I also discovered there's a Ghibli museum in Japan complete with Tonari No Totoro's neko/cat bus.

Do you think it would fit in my living room?

But considering I'm living in a gaming world, what of Ghibli games? I mean there is a distinct lack of them, and you'd think animation of this quality would lend itself to some serious eye-candy. The only example of anything Ghibli Studios has been involved in is Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color (PS2) which barely registers on the interest scale.

Now let's just consider this for a moment, taking just one movie, Tonari No Totoro, you'd have so many fantastical characters and adventures it could take surrealism and game play to a whole new level.

So why did Ghibli's only adventure into gaming leave something so lousy? I've no idea, but I'm sure someone will tell me.
